Summer Soccer Spectacle: Capital FC Showcases Talent and Growth this Tournament Season

SALEM, Ore. — July has been a month filled with sunshine and soccer tournaments throughout the Pacific Northwest. From Seattle’s Crossfire Challenge, to Beaverton Cup and Lake Oswego Nike Cup, Capital FC has showcased a tremendous amount of talent and growth so far this summer tournament series.

“We are definitely moving in the right direction,” states CFC Technical Director, Joe Wentworth. “The results on the field are just a byproduct of the hard work and dedication the CFC coaches and players have put in. As we move towards the end of the summer, I’m excited for the upcoming fall season.”

With 8 Championship trophies secured, 11 Finalist finishes, and 5 Semifinalist victories, here is a list of CFC teams who have made it to the final stages of tournaments so far this summer -

*Notable mentions are we had three 2011G guest play with Eclipse SC 11G (Fairbanks, AK) who won the tournament while three 2010G guest played with Eclipse SC 10G (Fairbanks, AK) and were crowned Finalists.

“Of course [the programs are] still growing which adds difficulties and ones that don’t present instant results (ie player placement, player identification, coach placement and coach placement) but as a Technical Staff, we are excited to solve these problems.

This year we are looking at continuing the success of the OYSA Central Valley League especially.  This platform gives our players a perfect place to continue to develop while having an opportunity to stay a little closer to home.  The clubs in that league all face the same hardships with smaller communities and seem to have a good vibe around the league with everyone understanding those hardships.”
