Teddy Bear Toss
SALEM, Ore. — Excitement is building as Capital FC Atletico gears up for their annual Teddy Bear Toss match, a beloved tradition that brings the community together for a heartwarming cause. This year’s event will be bigger and better at McCulloch Stadium, offering fans an evening of thrilling soccer action downtown and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of local children.
The annual Teddy Bear Toss invites fans to bring new or gently used stuffed animals to the game. In a joyous moment after CFC scores their first goal, fans will toss their teddy bears, creating a spectacular scene as stuffed animals of all shapes and sizes are thrown onto the field.
The teddy bears are then collected by volunteers and taken to the Liberty House Child Abuse Assessment Center. These donations have a significant impact on the children who receive them, bringing a bit of comfort and joy during difficult times.

The Teddy Bear Toss was first introduced by the Western Hockey League’s Kamloops Blazers in 1993. Since then, it has spread to other sports, including soccer, and has become a popular way for teams to give back to their communities. The Capital FC Teddy Bear Toss was started in 2017 and has since become a highlight of the team’s season.
Community Impact
As a supporter of Liberty House, you are providing care for children 0-18 in Marion and Polk Counties who are referred to Liberty House for concerns of abuse, neglect, trauma, and grief. A gift of a new stuffed animal can provide warmth, comfort, and care for one of the hundreds of children who will receive services at Liberty House this year.
Free Entry for a Cause
If you bring a stuffed animal to be donated, your ticket will be FREE into the match! There is a three-free ticket limit per family.
